Type of Building: Major event destination
Project Location: Victoria Park Drive, Burswood
Architects: Hassell, HKS, Cox
Product Type: Classic and Motorised roller blinds across multiple zones
Background:
The new Perth stadium is a world-class, five-tiered stadium, with a unique bronze façade bringing to life Western Australia’s unique geology. The stadium will deliver a world-class experience for fans on event days, providing them comfort while being close to the action. With the warm Western Australian climate, blind solutions that would offer complete comfort and protection was imperative.
A unique project in many ways, a project of this size required several different products to meet the requirements for varied areas, from chain operated privacy blinds for media rooms, glare control roller blinds for general boxes, high-end motorised blinds for Corporate boxes, linked Motorised Glare control blinds, controlled from a central area for restaurants and function areas. The modularity of the SunBoss system and the vast selection of fabrics allowed our client to use the appropriate system for each area with ease.
UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY BUSINESS SCHOOL
Background
Encompassing more than 9,100 square meters of flexible teaching and learning space, with the very latest technology and a prime position near the University’s historic main campus, the purpose-designed Abercrombie Building inspires and enables generations of leaders in the business world. It is a place for students who imagine the next world-changing innovative digital application, academics who solve poverty through profitability, and alumni who mentor the company directors of tomorrow. With a focus on cross-disciplinary collaboration, cutting-edge research and interactive learning.
The Brief
To enable world leading thinking, world leading spaces needed to be created that inspired and challenged the mind to think in new ways.
Quattro Shading’s Role
Working with our NSW Commercial Partner The Emporium, we were able to meet the strict design brief set by Kann Finch’s Interior team to provide world class Indoor comfort and reduced glare whilst maintaining creative connectivity to the outside environment for the students.
This was achieved using the “SmartScreen” PVC Free, 100% Trevira CS Fabric with a High-performance metallized backing to all perimeters and the “SmartBlock” 100% PES Blockout Fabric to all lecture rooms.
The Challenge
How could we transform these rooms from open, light, connective spaces to blocked out, finely focused lecture rooms, without losing valuable time manually operating the blinds? This was achieved by motorising over 1,000 blinds throughout the building and providing 2 option control from either a wall switch as you enter or exit the room, or from a touch pad AV control located at the lecterns.
The connectivity of the blinds to the (AV) Audio Visual System was a first in Australia of this size utilising a Quattro Parallel wire motor, which resulted in a saving of over $100,000 in Blind control relays.
Quattro Shading have extensive knowledge of motorized blind integration from basic hand held remote control operation to full BMS, AV, KNX, SMI, BACnet integration and can assist in wiring and design solutions on projects large or small.
